What a Fractional Sales Leader Actually Gets Done in a Week
Some weeks remind you why fractional leadership exists. This was one of them.
by Steve Victor
After a few short weeks, I needed a full 5 days to properly lean into my clients and this is what it looked like.
A week in the life of a Fractional Sales Leader:
1. Hiring (done properly, not quickly)
We finally landed a new Account Manager — and the best candidate came from inside.
Smart. Proven. Already trusted.
She’s moved from product into sales, and is now building account plans and meeting her clients.
Internal hires like this don’t just fill roles… they accelerate momentum.
2. Unlocking the “ignored” revenue segment
We introduced a new inbound role focused on smaller clients.
The ones most businesses overlook.
No structured engagement. No ownership.
Now? We’ll baseline performance and target a +25% uplift across revenue and activity.
Most companies don’t have a pipeline problem.
They have an attention problem.
3. Restructuring for clarity (not chaos)
Completed a full sales restructure for another client.
From:
• Blurred roles
To:
• Clear inbound
• Focused outbound
• Defined customer success
• Dedicated business development
Clarity drives accountability.
Accountability drives performance.
Now the part most people skip
Discipline outside of work:
• Bike: 25km (still chasing 50km target)
• Walk: 30km
• Sit-ups: 837 days straight (most days 2x sets)
• Plank: 33 days straight
• Push-ups: paused (listening to the body > ego)
The takeaway:
Sales leadership isn’t just strategy.
It’s:
→ Hiring well
→ Structuring properly
→ Focusing where others don’t
→ And showing up with consistency every single day
In work. And outside it.
Back next Friday with another week in the life.
